




Around and about there's plenty of walking, mountain-biking, horse-riding, sailing, fishing and golf. The sea at Oban, the spectacular scenery of Glencoe, the Trossachs, Stirling and Edinburgh are all within 2 hours drive, and Loch Lomond is only 20 miles North of Glasgow.
The cottages are only 6 miles from the picturesque village of Luss and world famous Loch Lomond Golf Courses. In Balloch (3 miles) you will find the shops, cafes, restaurants and bars and located within the tourism development of Loch Lomond Shores there are;
The breathtaking scenery of the surrounding 720 square miles of National Park that makes this place so special, and Loch Lomond itself is one of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland.
Cycling
We have some cycles which may borrowed (on an as available basis and at the borrowers risk). The Gardeners Cottages are adjacent to the west Loch Lomond cycleway which starts at Balloch and extends 18 miles up the Lochside as far as Tarbet. At Arden there is a spur from this route which takes you off to Helensburgh. There are many other places to cycle in the area which offer safe family outings, such as the route around Loch Katrine and in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.
Walking
Around Loch Lomond you are never far from many of Scotland's highest mountains. There are several Munros nearby (mountains above 300 feet) and walks range from challenging hikes over rugged peaks to easier, yet still demanding walks up well trodden paths of the most accessible peaks. Scotland's most southerly Munro, Ben Lomond, is one of the country's most popular climbs. But you don't have to climb the mountains to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
